Today was another day of travel. After a quite adequate breakfast at Fairfield Inn in Lincoln, I hit the road again.
Iowa is much less flat and much greener than the parts of Kansas and Nebraska through which I traveled the previous day. It was also cool, cloudy, and windy.
Iowa still has many rest areas along the interstate (I-80) and they served me well today.
I arrived into Davenport around 2:30 and located the Brancel Charter check in on the St. Ambrose University. I picked up my luggage tags, charter wristband, and swag; then handed over my bike for transport.
Next stop, Fairfield Inn, maybe. I followed the GPS instructions, but found the signage indicated AmericInn. Hmmm. I thought the GPS had led me astray, but the hotel is in fact “transitioning” later this weekend.
Once the rest of my Reluctant Cyclist team arrived, we headed to dinner at the nearby Treehouse Pub. Decent food, good live music, and a fairly wide selection of beers, including the not-too-pineapply Aloha Traveler Pineapple Shandy, inexplicably from Vermont.
One more sitting day tomorrow, but at least I won’t be driving, and we’ll get to assemble in Onawa.
Did you get. To see how your bike was loaded onto itstransport?
Did you get your saddle question answered?
